Alpine Mobility

ALPINE MOBILITY

Alpine mobility is a critical skill set for SOF travelling on foot in rugged, mountainous terrain. Tactical Mountain Training’s Alpine Mobility courses are designed to prepare your team for travel through a variety of alpine environments using modern, professional guiding techniques and equipment.

Our Alpine Mobility courses can be customized to meet your mission-specific parameters, and often include elements of glaciated mountaineering, alpine rock climbing, ice climbing, white-out and heavily vegetated navigation, survival skills, and emergency response.

The North Cascades offer glaciated, non-glaciated, and high-angle travel, as well as heavily vegetated cross country travel and rapidly changing weather conditions. The combination of our curriculum and terrain ensures that your team is prepared for any alpine environment they encounter in the execution of their duties.

Alpine Mobility Courses can be customized to include any of the following curricula. Please contact Tactical Mountain Training for a curated itinerary based on your team’s needs.

GLACIATED MOUNTAINEERING

Tactical Mountain Training’s glaciated mountaineering curriculum prepares your team to manage objective and subjective hazards as well as move safely and efficiently in glaciated environments.  Training elements include ropework fundamentals, snow anchors and security, cramponing, ice axe arrest, roped glacier travel, and crevasse rescue. Overnight curriculum includes camp craft and expeditionary skills.

Ice Climbing

Tactical Mountain training’s Ice Climbing curriculum expands your team’s glaciated capabilities into high-angle terrain, with an emphasis on moving large groups safely through technical ice. Training elements include ice climbing ropework and movement skills, pitched climbing, and ice screws/anchoring techniques.

Alpine Rock Climbing

Moving safely and efficiently in alpine rock terrain requires a combination of rock climbing and mountaineering techniques. Tactical Mountain Trainings alpine rock climbing curriculum begins with rock climbing fundamentals, ropework, and movement skills and expands to include alpine specific anchoring and security techniques.

Survival & Rescue

The mountain environment is unpredictable. Prepare your team with the necessary skills to not only survive the unexpected, but to also continue the mission. Tactical Mountain Training’s alpine survival and rescue curriculum includes emergency shelter construction, crevasse rescue, high-angle rope rescue, and team member evacuation.

FULL MISSION PROFILE Exercises

Tactical Mountain Training’s programs are designed to prepare your team for mission success, not recreational pursuits. Our FMP Exercises integrate our alpine mobility curriculum with real world applications, crafted as closely to your mission-specific parameters as possible. FMP exercises are typically included at the end of an alpine mobility course, and are also offered as multi-day, standalone training programs.

.Tactical Mountain Training operates training programs Monday – Friday, and recommends a full, 5-day itinerary for most courses. 5-day trainings allow for the incorporation of multiple training modules / FMP exercises, and works best with standard SOF budgetary constraints and operational tempo.
